THE NEWEST MEMBER OF AZIMUT’S CONVENTION-DEFYING S-SERIES, THE S6 SPORTFLY, IS PROOF THAT THE 50-YEAR-OLD ITALIAN YACHT MAKER IS STILL AT THE TOP OF ITS GAME

BY MATTHEW MIZRACH

Climbing aboard the 59-foot Azimut’s S6 Sport y, you’d be forgiven to assume that you’ve just walked into your own private five-star resort on the sea. Revered designer Stefano Righini honed his creative yet unorthodox instincts to craft a stylish, boundary-pushing experience that embraces the classic design cues of the S Series while still daring to create a whole new ocean-faring experience. The S6 Sport y’s beefy form factor is on full display, clad in a handsome white-on-gunmetal gray colorway. The cockpit is fully enclosed, and an extended hardtop envelopes the upper deck to create a shaded sanctum that can be adjusted by opening the sunroof. This area also contains a full-sized galley and bar, so it’s the perfect space for events and social gatherings. The impossibly spacious lower deck is home to three staterooms, including a master suite that boasts two tables, a pair of walk-in closets, and an adjoining bathroom. The S6 is powered by twin Volvo Penta D8-IPS engines, which grant the yacht more than 1,600 ponies, a breezy top speed of 35 knots, and a 30-knot cruising speed.
