Christian Louboutin introduced his namesake collection in 1991 sexy, powerful, yet feminine shoes that soon became must haves for stylish women and celebrities like Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Taylor, Catherine Deneuve, Cher, Princess Caroline, Diane von Furstenberg, and Gwyneth Paltrow. In addition to a distinctively sexy aesthetic, Louboutin shoes are recognizable for their vibrantly red lacquered soles, which first appeared in 1992. The designer explained of that element in an interview that, “this happened by accident, as I felt that the shoes lacked energy, so I applied red nail polish to the sole of one. This was such a success that it became a permanent fixture.” Footwear News stated that the brand’s sole was a “subtle status symbol,” while catawiki.com pronounced them a “global symbol of luxurious elegance.” Along with Louboutin’s shoe collection, CoCo Parì also carries a line of the house’s handbags every bit as covetable as the footwear, including clutches and everyday totes.
