The Sea Bright Historical Society kicked o the summer season on June 2nd with a “Friend-Raiser” at the home of Christina Doxey originally built as a church over one hundred years ago.
Every resident of Sea Bright received an invitation to celebrate their town’s unique cultural heritage, one that reaches back to the mid 1800s, when it was a fishing community of simple shacks near the dunes its first hotel, Ocean House, opening in 1842.

Marc Lechstein, president of the Sea Bright Council and the Historical Society, said he was thrilled at the turnout. Local businesses and residents supported the Society’s mission to celebrate and record for posterity Sea Bright’s rich and fascinating history.

Monies raised will provide the funds to create interactive historical displays in a proposed museum space, so that, a Society statement explained, “the public will learn about our amazing past before it is lost to the sands of time.”
