After working for several Physical Therapy practices and gaining insight and experience into many facets of what it is to be truly healthy, Dr. Daniel Reizis, a licensed physical therapist, certified orthotics practitioner, and a National Academy of Sports Medicine personal trainer, opened Advanced Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in Lake Como in May of 2011.

“I had a clear vision of what I thought physical therapy should be,” noted Reizis, who designed the 2,500-square-foot rehab center to be more boutique and spa-like than a typical doctor’s office, and placed particular emphasis on one-on-one care. “So many people have become accustomed to sitting in a waiting room for an hour and traveling around to a number of different offices for different services,” Reizis continued. “At Advanced PMR, we eliminated that wait time and created a one-stop-shop where all services are under one roof.”

The idea was a hit, and the company’s family of offices has grown rapidly throughout Central New Jersey over the past seven years. Five additional locations were added in Red Bank, Edison, Manalapan, Brick, and Morganville, each providing physical therapy, acupuncture, and a variety of other rehabilitation services. Four of the six locations are alongside Immediate Care (urgent care centers), providing the opportunity to see a doctor for non-life-threatening emergencies.

Each location features a team of skilled therapists and clinicians who promote a non-surgical, holistic approach to physical well-being and overall quality of life. Each client receives what Reizis calls the “total package” at every visit: they are greeted, receive treatment in a timely manner, and are also presented with tea, cappuccino, or bottled water to sip while they ice down at their end of a visit. Complimentary transportation is also offered to every guest Monday thru Friday.

The company merged with Health Plus Management this past June, resulting in an additional 24 locations. Stu Blumberg, CEO of Health Plus, observed that “partnering with Advanced PMR would be a strong addition to creating a valuable geographic footprint in New Jeresy. Our vision is totally aligned. Their level of service, combined with our joint multi-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation, will continue to serve the growing population of both New York and New Jersey.”

“In total, we now have 30 locations,” noted Harris Hafeez, who co-owns Advanced PMR with Reizis.

“And those additional locations allow us to further our mission of providing the finest in healthcare.”

In addition to physical therapy, each office also offers acupuncture and chiropractic therapies as well as non-operative sports medicine. Pain management specialists and orthopedists are also present, and a full stock of medical supplies are available for purchase.

“We see a range of patients, from children with sports injuries and teenage athletes to weekend warrior adults and geriatric seniors,” Reizis said. “We also see post-surgical patients, those who have had motor vehicle accidents and those dealing with worker compensation cases. Our acupuncturists help those suffering from migraines, neck tension, infertility, and digestive issues. Our services run the gamut, and our staff treats a variety of issues.”
Advanced PMR also recently partnered with Uber Health to pick up patients who need transportation to and from appointments.

“It’s all a part of our mission to provide quality service,” Hafeez said. “We’ve created an environment that is completely conducive to health and wellbeing. Here, you are not treated like a number. No one enjoys going to the doctor, so we try to make the experience as seamless and as enjoyable as possible.” In the future, the business partners intend to open additional offices, including two currently being planned in New York City for a next-year unveiling, and another in Robbinsville, NJ, set to open this winter. The team is also rapidly growing its footprint through additional mergers and acquisitions.

“Many clinics face challenges with logistics and general business operations,” said Hafeez. “Our goal is to streamline key management and business processes using the Advanced PMR / HPM tools, so that doctors can focus on one thing: treating patients.”

Both Hafeez and Reizis place additional importance on giving back to the community. From mentoring local students to volunteering at a local food bank, the partners try to give back as much as they can.

“We want to give other young people the opportunity to understand how business and medicine work,” Hafeez concluded. “We do a lot of mentoring at local colleges and host several events throughout the year to benefit local charities. We strongly believe in giving back to the community because they have supported us so strongly throughout this entire process.”
