IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW TV? HAVE A SPARE $1.7 MILLION LYING AROUND? IF YOUR ANSWER IS A RESOUNDING YES, THEN LG’S NEW BEHEMOTH OF A TV THE 325-INCH DVLED MIGHT JUST BE THE VIEWING EXPERIENCE OF YOUR DREAMS

Earlier this fall, the South Korea-based consumer electronics conglomerate LG announced a revolutionary lineup of TVs dubbed “Direct View LED (DVLED) Extreme Home Cinema.” Casually throwing the word “extreme” around could have done the brand a disservice by setting expectations too high, but this product range is truly unlike anything cinephiles have experienced before. Targeted for “affluent consumers,” the 325-inch 8K model delivers on its promise to send shock waves through the industry. LG has adopted breakthroughs in MicroLED technology (widely considered the future of TV tech) to churn out a pixel pitch of just 0.9mm, and an overall display brightness of roughly 1,200 nits. The unit itself weighs about the same as a mid-sized sedan and has an output of about 50,000 BTUs (which could adequately heat a 1,500-square-foot home).

Bypassing stores in favor of a custom installation dealer program, the install includes an on-site engineer and bi-annual checkups from LG to assess display health. According to LG USA’s VP of business development, Dan Smith, the display is “rated to last 100,000 hours before reaching half-life, meaning that it could deliver stunning visuals for over ten years.” The only question left to ask is: Do you have a big enough wall?
