Red and holly hues might be seasonal mainstays, but this holiday season, bring on golden hour for a look that dazzles like lights on a tree

SUNNY DISPOSITION
The sun-pecked glow you picked up in Asbury Park this summer might be fading, but you can recreate the look for the colder months you just need the right bronzer. Bronzers can be broken down into four types: powder, cream, gel, and liquid. Cream and gel tend to be better for a more natural finish, though anyone with oily skin should opt for powder. It’s important to remember that the goal is to add warmth with a bronzer rather than color, so be sure to choose a shade that complements your skin tone. Generally, fair-skinned ladies should opt for cool-toned bronzers (and go light in application to avoid any orange effect), medium skin tones should reach for coppery bronzers, while deep skin tones should opt for golden bronzers with a red undertone. After prepping the skin with a moisturizing primer and foundation, go for the glow by blending bronzer over the hairline, along the cheekbones, and under the jaw.

GLAM GIRL
In addition to being a brilliant and festive hue, gold is also warming, stellar for brightening up complexions that tend to fade as winter approaches. Low-lights and cool tones tend to rule the roost this time of year, but consider instead tinting your locks with smoky gold or shimmering copper for a heavy dose of shine. The look is glossy, festive, and grows out beautifully as we dip into the long, cold winter ahead. Golden tones also juxtapose beautifully against December’s favorite shades of red and green, and for Hollywood-level glamour, rock the new ‘do with a slicked back high pony or long loose waves and oversized hoop earrings.

GOLDEN EYE
For amped-up glam, a golden cat-eye is the perfect holiday party accessory, achieved with either shimmery golden lids or for even more drama large chunky glitter. Begin with a light eyelid primer before applying a light layer of neutral shadow that matches the color of your skin. This serves as a transition before you begin building the gold; start by patting on the shadow with a brush, then blend thoroughly. Finally, follow the top of your eyelid with a rich black eyeliner, and for an extra pop, dress your bottom lid with a golden liner. Remember: if rocking the golden eye, be sure to go light on the blush and lip tint, as too much color saturation can lean garish.
